Why would my expectations be low, you ask? Because my hearing of 7/6/75 has always held that it utterly lagged, I connected it to the idea of Merl having a heroin problem at this time, and I connected all of this to the demise of the Legion. Also, possibly, because everybody loves 7/4/75 so much, and I always thought that was kind of a Cornell effect operating. But I cannot deny the evidence of my ears. And it's not just today, but I started listening to this again some months back, picked it up in a few different chunks this week, and it's really good. I am not usually a Tutt fan, relatively speaking, but he plays so well. Merl sounds totally fluent and smart and together. Martin busts out that different instrument, or that different tone, in Reggae Woman that is freaking awesome, and Garcia plays slide in Tore Up! Not sure I have ever heard him play slide outside the GD, maybe I am just blanking on it. Anyway, as with 12/21/79, 6/16/82 and many others, the conventional wisdom has it right that this one is a keeper.Fate Musichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05648291938690043423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8189740927119210874.post-56764962745523235532018-05-24T08:27:13.579-04:002018-05-24T08:27:13.579-04:00I do owe it a relisten (it's been long enough)...I do owe it a relisten (it's been long enough). He makes a good case for bumping it back to the end of July, rather than 7/6/75 as has been commonly assumed:

http://jgmf.blogspot.com/2016/08/dating-legions-demise-revisionist.htmlNickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11628132999021385676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8189740927119210874.post-77815938468384369532015-09-15T11:51:39.986-04:002015-09-15T11:51:39.986-04:00I know Garcia saw the Wailers in San Francisco way...I know Garcia saw the Wailers in San Francisco way back when, and its pretty logical that he saw the Boarding House shows in 1975Corry342https://www.blogger.com/profile/08049035074121231425noreply@blogger.com
